Smok Rolo Badge Review
Like the Smok Novo, I purchased this mod myself. So this is a 100% honest review.
Here it is. The Smok Rolo Badge.
I first came across this pod mod at our local vape shop while I was waiting for my Smok Novo to be delivered. I decided I would return to the shop to purchase it if nicotine salt e-juice turned out to be 'the thing' to help me stop smoking.
What comes in the box:
The mod, 2 pods (or cartridges), a micro-USB charging cable, a needle-tip bottle, and a manual.
While many reviewers say that Smok ripped off the design from the Suorin Drop, I don't mind. I like the inverted drop shape. The one I purchased has a matte black finish. Most of the other colors for the Rolo Badge are chrome. While super shiny, my guess is they show fingerprints to a horrendous degree. That's the main reason why I went with the matte black one.
The battery in this device is 250mAh, so it definitely doesn't last as long as the Smok Novo. However, I purchased it to be my backup device to my Novo while it was charging, and I could easily get my hands on the replacement pods.
Like the Novo, the Rolo Badge's pods hold 2ml of e-juice. The difference here is that it has 2 plugs on the bottom of the pod. Like the Novo, the holes are too small for the tips on e-juice bottles. I use a small tipped unicorn bottle to fill it, but they included a needle tip bottle for a reason. I opened both holes and then filled each side with e-juice. Yes, the juice will flow around the chimney in the middle, but it takes too long. The pod itself easily attaches to the mod with magnets. I haven't had a single problem with it.
This mod is a low wattage device. Many of these are being designed to specifically work with nicotine salt e-juice. This mod fits easily in your palm and slips unobtrusively into your pocket. As this one doesn't leak quite like my Novo, this is the mod I take with me into public.
The little light on the tip glows white when you vape. And like the Novo, this is air-activated. No buttons required. Just inhale and it fires. Sometimes.... Unfortunately, this has a nasty habit of misfiring.
Like the Novo, the light will blink 15 times when it needs to be charged. Of course, you only find out when you go to vape and you get no vapor. Now, here's where it gets weird. When you go to plug it in, the light turns red to show it's charging. Yay. But it never turns off.... The first time, I charged it for almost 3 hours and the light never turned off. So, since my Novo charges in 1 hour, and its battery is considerably larger, I figure my Rolo Badge only needs to charge for 30 minutes. It seems to be working.
How long does it last on a single charge? I have no clue. It's my backup device, and as such, I don't use it on a regular basis.
While the pods are see through, they're dark. To determine the level of my juice, I have to hold it up to a light and try to see where it's at. Considering most juice is pale in color, this can lead to a bit of guessing. Right now, I'm using the air bubbles inside to alert me to the level.
This pod also has considerable more spit back than my Novo. I swear it's happening every other hit or so. I tend to use dessert juices, so it's not a huge deal, but goodness.
The flavor is decent. The clouds aren't massive, but they're not meant to be with a device like this. People call them "stealth mods", but the vapor still exists. It's not invisible by any means.
On the whole, I do like this mod. It makes a perfect backup to my Novo.
