How it all began
My journey from smoking to vaping has taken several years. My husband first told me about e-cigarettes over 10 years ago. He was in South Korea and they were really big there. So he told me about them in the hopes I'd switch over. I tried several brands and yeah. That didn't work. The flavor was wrong, the weight was wrong, etc. Fast forward to about 2 years ago.
My son turned 18 and he insisted on getting a vape mod. Like many teenagers, he'd experimented with them when he was 17, but waited until he was 18 at least to get his own. Considering that's about how it went with me starting smoking, I didn't get after him much. So, I entered a vape shop for the first time in my life.
What struck me the most was the smell. Have you ever been in a vape shop? They smell amazing. After tagging along with him a few times to buy more e-juice, I finally decided to try it myself. I bought myself a Smok Alien mod. That was probably my first mistake. It was way more complicated than I wanted it to be. However, I liked the look, so yeah. I bought a few flavors of juice and gave it a whirl. Thanks to my son, I already knew I preferred dessert flavors. I find the fruit ones to be distasteful.
I really did try to switch. However, all it did was make me want to smoke more. And I did. I finally gave up. The vape juice was doing nothing for me. It couldn't even take the edge off of my cravings. I gave my son my setup and called it quits. Then, I heard about Juul.
I did some research into them and quickly decided they weren't worth it. One thing about vaping is it is supposed to be cheaper than smoking. But Juul made sure you would pay the same amount since their teeny tiny pods can't be refilled. Well, people have found a way around that, but I didn't want to mess with it. However, that's when I heard about nicotine salts for the first time. You see, I was curious as to why Juul appeared to be helping more and more people stop smoking. So I did some research into nicotine salts. The information was fascinating.
It boils down to this. The regular e-juice uses a freebase nicotine. Nicotine salt juice takes that nicotine and combines it with benzoic acid. It allows for a much higher amount of nicotine to be added to e-juice. Contrary to what big tobacco believed, they think freebase nicotine absorbs faster, nicotine salt did. Juul ran a lot of tests when they were designing their e-juice. Turns out nicotine salts enters the body quicker and at higher concentrations. Multiple blood tests proved it.
Well, I already said I'd decided to pass up Juul, so what happened? I received an email. I'd ordered from Vapor Authority in the past when attempting to switch, so I was on their mailing list. Since my son still vaped, I would open them periodically to see the sales. Well, one email announced a brand new pod mod that Smok just released. A quick search on their site showed several e-juice companies were creating nicotine salt juice. I decided to roll the dice one more time and see what happened.
What happened was a freaking miracle. Nicotine Salt juice is where it's at. At least for me. It did what I had always hoped the other e-juice would do. It completely stopped the cigarette cravings. That first day, I went 7 HOURS without any problems. And I was easily at a pack and a half a day habit. So I was smoking every 30-45 minutes.
In a span of 5 days, I have gone from smoking 30 cigarettes a day to smoking 7. I still have some psychological habits to overcome, but I have no doubt I will be able to do so. At this point, I don't dare stop vaping and return to cigarettes. Because after quite a bit of research, I ordered 50mg e-juice. There is a ton of nicotine in my juice. If I stop, there's no telling how many cigarettes I'd have to smoke to equal what I'm taking in now.
If you have attempted to stop smoking by using the traditional vape juice and it didn't work for you, I highly recommend you get a small pod mod (they're super cheap) and some nicotine salt e-juice.
One thing to know is nicotine salt e-juice MUST be used in low wattage systems. You absolutely cannot use them with the fancier sub-ohm devices. That can lead to nicotine poisoning.
So give it a whirl. You might discover it's the miracle you have been looking for as well.
